Awards Celebrate Local Talent of Lansing’s Small Businesses

The 20th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business Awards gala took place at the Breslin Center at Michigan State University honoring local businesses for their economic growth and contributions to the community. Behind the glamour of the event, organizers focused on recognizing the resilience and innovation that entrepreneurs bring to Michigan. Awards were given to companies for their contributions to the community, workplace culture, and patterns of growth and expansion.

One of the highlights of the evening was the recognition of the 2024 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch. These companies collectively generated over $414 million in revenue last year and are expected to continue growing this year. Among the recipients of this award were Custom Built Design and Remodeling of Okemos, Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhoads PLC of Okemos, LorAnn Oils Inc. of Lansing, Michigan Creative of Lansing, and Elderly Instruments of Lansing.

Lillian Werbin, CEO of Elderly Instruments, expressed gratitude for being recognized among such amazing businesses that care about their company and employees. Stacy Paul of Grand Rapids-based Array of Engineers was awarded the new category for Women-Owned Small Business of the Year.

The event highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit thriving in Michigan and the importance of supporting small businesses in the state. The evening brought together fun and advocacy to celebrate the success and potential for growth of these businesses. The event showcased the creativity, determination, and hard work of entrepreneurs who are driving economic growth in the state.
